The Blog Where It All Started

In 2012, Kris began sharing weekly writing tips for clients and writing community friends on Facebook. After bringing the casual “Writing Tip Wednesday” tradition to this website, readership grew and grew.

Within a few years, her communications reminders were being used in high school and college classrooms across the country, and soon thereafter, Kris found herself with her first book deal. Get a Grip on Your Grammar published in the U.S. in 2017 and in India in 2020.

Word choice matters. How you build your sentence with punctuation is about more than just decorating with ink squiggle confetti. We owe it to ourselves and to everyone who sees our written words to get it right. All right?

Literary Historian Work & Empowering the Human Chapter

Stories outlast moments. Communicating well changes our personal and professional lives, as well as the course of human history.

Kris Spisak still regularly:

  • Dons white research gloves and explores dusty archives
  • Investigates the secrets of etymologies, famous world stories, and the historical moments that drew writers to begin writing
  • Twists words like licorice, tweaking, cajoling, poeticizing, intensifying, and making simple sentence structures shine like new

Storytelling is among humanity’s oldest technologies, and Kris will forever argue it’s still the most powerful one.
